A year after selling future Group 2 winner Zanthos for €1 million in the same sales ring, Roderic Kavanagh's Glending Stables sold a filly for €1.1 million at Saturday's Arqana Breeze Up Sale in Deauville.

The filly was by Sioux Nation, also sire of Zanthos, and the purchaser of both fillies was bloodstock agent Anthony Stroud.

Zanthos is due to make her three-year-old debut in the Poule d'Essaie des Pouliches on Sunday at ParisLongchamp.

Although Stroud did not disclose who he was acting for, the fact that Zanthos' co-trainers Simon and Crisford were in close proximity will fuel speculation that the filly will, like Zanthos, carry the colours of Bahrain's Victorious Racing.

However, Stroud also acts for Kuwaiti owners KHK Racing and bought the Crisford-trained Vandeek from Glending Stables for KHK Racing in 2023.

Kavanagh's latest big-priced sales horse is shared with Cormac O'Flynn. They bought the filly at Book 3 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale for 98,000gns.

She is out of Porthilly, a daughter of Pivotal who won four races and was Group 3-placed for trainer John Hammond. She has bred one winner from two runners to date.

Godolphin made a belated first appearance on the list of breeze-up buyers for this year when paying €900,000 for a Blue Point colt from Yeomanstown Stud - their sole purchase on the day. The colt cost Yeomanstown €180,000 as a foal and went through the ring as a yearling for 375,000gns. His dam Dancin Inthetsreet won as a two-year-old and this is her second foal. Her first foal, Ironwill, won twice as a two-year-old last year for trainer Stuart Williams.

Michael Donohoe of BBA Ireland paid €850,000 for a Kingman colt consigned by Brendan Holland's Grove Stud. Holland bought the colt for 150,000gns last October. The colt is out of Ship Of Dreams, a Lope De Vega mare who won a listed race for Joseph O'Brien and Qatar Racing in 2018. She has bred three winners already including Go Just Do It, an impressive winner of a Gowran Park maiden for Joseph O'Brien last month.

Longways Stables, owned by Mick Murphy and Sarah O'Connell, sold a Blue Point colt for €800,000 and a Showcasing filly for €625,000. Both were bought by Blandford Bloodstock, whose clients in the past have included Wathnan Racing. The Blue Point colt cost 98,000gns as a yearling and the Showcasing filly cost 140,000gns.

Willie Browne's Mocklershill Stables had 17 horses in the sale and they included a colt by US turf star Oscar Performance who was sold for €700,000. The purchasers were agents Will Douglass and Billy Jackson-Stops, acting with Hong Kong trainer David Eustace. The horse passed through the sales ring as a foal, unsold for $85,000.

John Hassett's Bloodstock Connection sold a Night Of Thunder filly for €600,000 to the Sackville Donald agency. The filly was unsold at 300,000gns as a yearling.

Katie Walsh's Greenhills Farm sold a Dubawi filly for €600,000 to agent Hubie de Burgh, acting on behalf of Craig Bernick's Glen Hill Farm.

Shane Power's Tradewinds Stud sold a colt by US sire Constitution for €540,000. Power paid $210,000 for the colt as a yearling.

Cormac Farrell, who topped this sale last year when selling future classic-placed Distant Storm for €1.9 million, did not sell his well-touted Flightline filly when bidding stopped at €750,000. She cost $190,000 as a yearling.

The sale ended with a clearance rate of 77.5%, compared with 83.75% last year. The median price of €120,000 was in line with last year but the average price of €190,000 was 65 down.

Blandford Bloodstock were the top buyers, spending just under €2.5 million on seven horses.

Ace Stud spent just over €1 million on three horses, and Amo Racing gave €880,000 for four new recruits.
