WHILE Chris Waller trained the trifecta in races one and three at Randwick on Monday, topping his day with Winx’s Group 2 win to land a third for the stable, it could be argued that it was the Newcastle-based Kris Lees who won the day. In charge of a considerably smaller stable than that of the state’s leading trainer, it was kudos to Lees as he trained a Group 3-winning treble for the day with wins for Le Romain, Invincible Gem and Zestful. His horses’ efforts are a timely reminder of training alternatives with Inglis’ Easter Yearling Sale just around the corner.
