ON the first day of selling, BBA Ireland’s Michael Donohoe signed for 35 lots costing a total of €8,571,000, and he continued to add to the total as the week wore on.

On Saturday he notably signed the docket at €920,000 for Let’s Misbehave. A daughter of Montjeu out of a sister to High Chaparral, she is the dam of Sippinsoda, winner of the Listed Prix Occitanie this season. She was offered in foal to Siyouni by Haras du Cadran.

American chef Bobby Flay was another who was very active, and among his purchases was the listed-placed Final Gesture for €925,000. Offered from Godolphin, the daughter of Dubawi is out of the group winner and Group 1-placed Galileo mare Secret Gesture. The filly hails from the family of Group 1 winners Japan, Mogul, Sagamix, Sagacity, Sageburg and Perfect Power. “This type of pedigree that really interests me”, said Flay.

A few lots earlier he also went to €925,000 for Glinting, a daughter of Galileo and a half-sister to group winners Bondi Beach and Constantinople. Offered from the La Motteraye Consignment, she is carrying her first foal by Wootton Bassett, and is from the family of Group 1 scorers Simple Perfect and Bianca Nera. Flay said: “She’s one of the mares that I really wanted today. For me she was one of the best mares in the catalogue.”
