BURGARITA, a dual listed winner and Group 1-placed in the Prix de Diane-French Oaks, was knocked down for €1,700,000.

Anthony Stroud faced a determined challenge from Alexandra Saint-Martin for the very talented filly from the Baroda Stud consignment. Acting for Godolphin, Stroud had the final say for the daughter of Sea The Stars, from the family of Arcangues, Agathe, Aquareliste and Artiste Royal. “She’s a lovely filly,” said the agent. She is from a superb family, she’s the one we wanted to buy, and she ran very well in the Prix de Diane. We’re very happy. She’ll be covered by Dubawi.”

The story of Hello You began at Arqana in Deauville when she was offered by Haras du Mezeray as a yearling. Bought by Robson Aguiar for €350,000, she returned again to Deauville, this time consigned by Ecurie des Monceaux. Winner of the Group 2 Rockfel Stakes, the Amo Racing-owned filly was trained by David Loughnane, and she was the subject to a lot of international interest. Shadai Farm went to €1,155,000 to secure the daughter of Invincible Spirit.

Representing Shadai, Takuya Fujita said: “My first impression when I saw her here at Deauville was the right one. Her race record is excellent, and she’s a magnificent filly. We don’t know yet if she’ll stay in training or go to stud; we’re still undecided.”

Wild card

Added to the sale as a wild card, the Listed Prix de Saint-Cyr winner Times Square joins the growing exodus of top-class runners heading to Australia. Placed at two in the Group 1 Qatar Prix Marcel Boussac and this years in the Group 1 Poule d’Essai des Pouliches-French 1000 Guineas, the daughter of Zarak was knocked down for €1,250,000. Hubie de Burgh and James Harron had the final say for the filly.

“We had some big opponents, and we wanted to do everything to get her”, said de Burgh. “She’ll go to Australia, where she will stay in training. She’s a beautiful filly, and dual Group 1 placed. Zarak has proved himself in Europe, and her half-sister is also group-placed. She has everything to be a good broodmare afterwards.”

Another wild card to make a splash was Thunder Drum. After signing the docket at €850,000 for Miss Extra, Northern Farm’s Katsumi Yoshida and Narvick International’s Emmanuel de Seroux secured the Group 2 Prix de Royaumont heroine Thunder Drum for €1,100,000. Consigned by Écurie des Monceaux, the daughter of Dubawi out of the classic winner Great Heavens is from a leading Rothschild family.

Baroda again

Consigned by David and Tamso Cox’s Baroda Stud, Oscula was another to realise seven figures. The winner of the Group 3 Prix Six Perfections and placed in the Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac, the George Boughey-trained and Nick Bradley-owned filly also won the Group 3 Oak Tree Stakes and Group 3 Prix de Lieurey. Ted Voute had the final say at €1,000,000 for the filly, a daughter of Galileo Gold.

“Prince Faisal spent a lot of time going through the catalogue”, said Ted Voute. “She’s the filly we wanted to buy. She’ll be retired to stud and be covered by Mishriff.”
