THE fourth leg of the Jumpinaction.net Secondary Schools Jumping League got under way on a chilly Sunday morning with the novice individual class held first to get the action rolling.

Eureka Secondary School representative Madeline Ormiston on Kiloraine Lucky Charm took home the winning rug while Poppy O’Dwyer on Puzzle took second place. Third place went to the St Andrew’s College representative Sophie Crosthwaite and Loreto Secondary School Balbriggan had Emily White taking fourth spot. Ava Donnellan rode Shadow Pearl in to fifth for Mount Sackville and completing the line-up was Emma Smyth from St Joesph’s Mercy Navan.

The Jumpinaction.net Secondary School Team competition had 12 teams jumping for the prizes. Ashbourne Community School one and O’Carolan College made it through to the jump-off. Hannah Lynam and Clara Lynam set a good target with both jumping clear in a combined time of 87.57 seconds.

Zara Cogan recorded a fast time but picked up four faults and although team mate Emily Rooney jumped clear, that left them in second place. Belvedere College finished in third, Eureka Secondary School fourth, Mount Sackville Yellow took fifth place and St Andrews College took the sixth spot.

In the 90/95cm Championship, Willow, ridden by Abi Lawler, flew over the line in a time of 34.53 and closest to her in 35.99 was Robyn Murray with Drummin Diamond Lad.

Dara O’Sullivan from Belvedere finished in third place while Sarah Gadaloff with Myries Dream took fourth. Siobhán Flynn from Castleknock Community College (42.27secs) slotted in to fifth. The last place went to Coláiste de Lacy student Ellen Ennis with Bushmills Fionn.

Primary division

The Breakaway Campers Primary Schools’ Novice Individuals had five competitors dividing the medals with representatives drawn from a wide variety of schools. St Mary’s Garristown had Grace Robertson riding Sugar, Scoil Olibheir Naofa was represented by Sadie Connolly riding Farmleigh Boy, Lismullen School’s Jane Reynolds rode Miss Ruby, St Andrews’s rider was Kate Tierney with Pebbles while St Gerard’s was represented by Benjamin Galligan on Missy.

The Breakaway Campers Open individual had 46 starters. The winner, with Wingfield into the Blue, was Chloe Dunne. Freddie Greene from St Andrew’s NS took second place while Kilcloon NS representative Ben O’Connor rode Pipsie Pie into third.

Local rider and a frequent visitor to Killossery Lodge, Alice Hartford with Rodger had to settle for fourth place this week. Isla Brennan finished fifth and Ruby Lynch was sixth.

The Breakaway Campers Primary team competition saw eight teams through to the jump-off. Kilcloon team one sent Ben O’Connor and Chloe Dunne in to jump and both jumped clear in a combined time of 68.31 which was good enough to take home the winning rugs. Second place went to St Andrew’s/Gaelscoil Na Cille after Harry Greene and Freddie both jumped clear in a combined time of 69.07.

St Andrew’s Curragha sent Harry Dowse and Emily Keogh in to jump and both jumped clear which left them in third place. First to go for Headfort School Hailey Yore rode Pebbles to finish on one time fault while team mate Ruby Brennan who rode Summerdale Klara went clear, good enough for eventual fourth place. St Gerard’s Junior School finished 5th and the combined team representing Lismullen/St Patrick’s/St Mary’s finished sixth.
