WITH a view to improvements plus addressing health and safety concerns, changes were made to the layout of the horse rings at the Flavours of Fingal show at Newbridge House last weekend with most of those involved with the equestrian side being in favour of the alterations. Some of the huge attendance over Saturday and Sunday decided to avoid any traffic congestion by taking shuttle buses from local towns, while many used the train, alighting at Donabate station. It’s great to see an agricultural show so close to Dublin city and one so easily accessible by public transport.

The inclusion of a leg of the Irish Sport Horse Studbook show jumping series and a round of The Underwriting Exchange National Grand Prix has raised the profile of the show, while a display of Pony Club mounted games by some local branches certainly entertained younger showgoers, as did the parade of the Fingal Harriers’ hounds.
