THE Kerry Bog Pony Co-operative Society Limited held the second of their 2023 breed inspections last Saturday at the picturesque sun-drenched surroundings of the Red Fox Inn, Glenbeigh, Co Kerry.

A total of 16 ponies were presented for inspection on the day from an entry of 19. The Society would like to sincerely thank all owners who entered their ponies for inspection and assessment against the breed standard. Five new young stallions achieved Class 1 status.

The inspectors, Sharon Fitton and David Lynch, commented that the quality and standard of the ponies brought forward for inspection this year was very high.

The Society would like to thank John and Olive Mulvihill and their family for allowing the use of the Red Fox Inn and for their great hospitality and hard work in getting everything ready for the inspections. The Society also wishes to thank the veterinary surgeon in attendance, Dáire Clifford, the inspectors and all those who assisted in the smooth running of such successful inspection day for the Kerry Bog Pony Studbook.

Funding for the inspections was provided by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine under its Equine Technical Support Schemes 2023, without whose support the inspections would not be possible.
