THE work of a doctor never ends, and so it is with those on duty at the 26 Irish racecourses. This year sees a new Irish Horseracing Regulatory Body senior medical officer in place, Dr Jennifer Pugh. She took the reins from Adrian McGoldrick, a man who gained legendary status in the role.

Jennifer is quick to pay tribute to her predecessor. “I am very fortunate to have taken over a role that is in such a healthy position. My aim is to continue Adrian’s good work and protect the legacy he has created. He is still very much involved and been an amazing support during the transition. He has such knowledge.”
