THE Jebel Ali Stakes Prep over nearly 10 furlongs was the feature at last Friday’s eighth meeting of the Jebel Ali racecourse season and it produced a popular success when the Ali Rashid Al Raihe-trained Haatheq made his first visit to the winner’s enclosure since taking the same contest a few years ago.

The nine-year-old, homebred by Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum, had run some big races in defeat since then, including finishing second in the 2014 Group 2 Godolphin Mile on Dubai World Cup night. He had also gone close when twice second to Treble Jig in the Group 3 Jebel Ali Mile.
