Willie Mullins' Grade 1-winning hurdler Whiteout got back to winning ways over timber with an authoritative success in the Follow Kilbeggan On Twitter Hurdle.

Without a victory over timber since winning the 2016 Punchestown Mares Champion Hurdle, she had notched a win on the flat earlier in the season and was sent off the 4/7 favourite for this test.

Allowed to stride into the lead fully four flights from home under Paul Townend, she was never really troubled in beating Jaime Sommers by four and a half lengths.

Townend said: " She was entitled to do it but she still had to go out and do it. We didn't learn anything more about her.

"It was a lovely opportunity for her getting all the weight as she's a Grade 1 winner. You'd be disappointed if she didn't win to be honest.

"It was ideal. It's the perfect trip and lovely ground. The blinkers probably sharpened her up and gave her something to think about again. It was her first run over hurdles in the blinkers."

ACROSS-THE-CARDS

Joseph O'Brien, who notched up a double at Killarney, made it an across-the-cards treble when striking here when Arkwrisht (3/1) who landed the Book Online At www.kilbegganraces.com Beginners chase.

Jockey JJ Slevin was aboard the winner and said: "He's a big old horse and I didn't want to break his rhythm down to the last and wanted to keep going forward.

"He galloped out through it and galloped away from it like it wasn't there. That's just him and it's great he stayed on his feet anyway.

"He'll get further as he won a two-mile-six Grade 3 in Clonmel. He's not a bad horse."
