WHITEOUT is the German-bred mare who lowered the colours of Limini and others to land the Grade 1 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares’ Champion Hurdle at Punchestown last weekend. The five-year-old was bred at Gestut Karlshof, which has been home to her sire Samum for most of his stud career.

When she was catalogued for sale as a three-year-old Whiteout was listed as having an entry in the Preis der Diana, the German Oaks. She did not take up her appointment with the auctioneers BBAG but later that year won a claimer in France before transferring to Willie Mullins. She has been a good money earner for her new connections and this recent victory can be added to a listed hurdle victory at the same venue last autumn.
