PIVOINE, a three-year-old gelding from the Ballymacoll Stud dispersal, sold for 340,000gns at the Tattersalls Horses in Training Sale in Newmarket on Tuesday.

A three-time winner for Sir Michael Stoute and rated in the mid 80s, the son of Redoute's Choice was bought by the SackvilleDonald agency. Alastair Donald said: "He will remain in the UK, but could be the sort to have an international campaign. He is a lovely horse, with a good rating and his performances to date look good."

Also coming from the Stoute stables was the useful handicapper City Of Joy. He is set to race in Saudi Arabia having fetched 200,000gns today.

Eynhallow, who boasts some very good form this year for Roger Charlton, was bought by Anthony Stroud for 300,000gns. "He is for the [Dubai] Carnival," said Stroud, "but he is lovely horse to have and will have a long term future. He was highly progressive this summer and very well trained.

He was bred by the late Bob McCreery and has a lovely profile."

Stroud paid 220,000gns for Jupiter Light, a son of Lonhro formerly trained by John Gosden. "He is to go to Dubai and was recommended by the trainer," said Stroud. "He vetted well and has the profile for Dubai and the right rating."

Jupiter Light has form with The Statesman who was sold for 310,000gns on Monday.

Gosden and owner George Strawbridge also sold Face The Facts, who will be trained by Willie Mullins.

Mullins picked up some nice prospects here on Monday and on Tuesday he acquired this son of Nathaniel from the Cassandra Go family for 100,000gns. Face The Face is a three-year-old who won a listed race over two miles at the end of September and is now rated 104.

"He was recommended by his trainer," said agent Harold Kirk, "and we've been lucky with our purchases from the yard before - we bought Thomas Hobson, who runs next week in the Melbourne Cup, from Clarehaven."

Mullins also bought nine-time Grade 1 winner Nichols Canyon from the Gosden yard.

Eldritch, a son of Dark Angel and also from Gosden's Clarehaven draft, is off to California, a fourth horse bought this week by Red Baron's Barn & Rancho Temescal, and the most expensive so far at 200,000gns.

"He should suit California, we were looking for a three-year-old allowance horse," said Tim Cohen of Red Baron's Barn, and sat with Alistair Donald. "We like to buy them fit from racing as we give them a run quite quickly once they ship to the US, then give them a break through the winter."

Cohen enjoyed some success with the draft purchased here last year - Force and Zaffinah are both subsequent multiple winners stateside.

Cohen has an exciting weekend ahead - Red Baron's Barn's Itsinthepost runs in the Breeders' Cup Turf.
