A documentary portrait of A.P. McCoy will have its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival next month. A three-minute trailer of the film can be viewed below.

The full film is 98 minutes and follows the 20-times champion jockey through his final season in the saddle. McCoy began the season in unstoppable form, reaching 50 winners in record time. He believed he could surpass his own record total of winners for a season but had to accept defeat when he suffered a serious chest injury in November of the year.

Though he resumed race-riding within weeks, McCoy privately discussed his future with his wife Chanelle, employer J.P. McManus and agent Dave Roberts. They agreed that this would be McCoy's final season as a professional jockey and the news was made public on the occasion of McCoy's 200th winner of the season in February of this year.

Following a two-month 'victory' lap around the racecourses of Britain and Ireland, McCoy retired at Sandown on April 25th having been champion jockey 20 times in a row.
