Top Australian sprinter Vancouver will miss Royal Ascot and has been retired to stud. The southern hemisphere bred son of Medaglia D'Oro has joined Aidan O'Brien this year with a view to running in a small number of European races prior to being retired to stud in Australia in August.
The colt was forced to miss the Group 2 Greenlands Stakes at the Curragh last month due to a unsatisfactory blood test and today Aidan O'Brien reported that Vancouver had failed to make a quick recovery. "Unfortunately we have now run out of time to get him ready for Royal Ascot and the July Cup," he said.
Vancouver will enter quarantine next week and is expected to be back in Australia by mid-July, said Tom Magnier.
