SOME 14 months after she won the first race of her career off a mark of just 57, the Joseph O’Brien-trained Waitingfortheday broke into the big time as she made a successful debut at Group 3 level in the Coolmore Stud Fairy Bridge Stakes to head a treble for Donnacha O’Brien.

In a race that attracted last year’s Moyglare Stud Stakes heroine Skitter Scatter, who ran a brave second on her first outing since the 1000 Guineas, Waitingfortheday was making a quick reappearance following her second in the Ruby Stakes last Saturday. The John Dollard-owned four-year-old, whose last success came in a Galway handicap earlier in the month, had work to do for this step up to pattern level but was not found wanting.
