SPYGLASS Hill, previously placed in graded company for Henry de Bromhead, was the top lot of the ThoroughBid’s May Sale at £15,000 when purchased by former National Hunt jockey and bloodstock manager Jerry McGrath. The son of Morozov had a peak rating of 146.

The sale, which achieved a clearance rate of 67% by selling 12 out of 18 lots, featured numerous Horses in Training from top trainers, including de Bromhead, Gordon Elliott, Olly Murphy and Jonjo O’Neill.

Of the 12 horses sold in the sale, two horses consigned by Noel Williams – 10-time winning Orpen gelding Paricolor and winning Kapgarde mare Heure De Gloire – were both sold to David Pipe.

Also changing hands was a three-year-old store filly by Casamento from the family of King George VI winner Tornado Flyer and two-time Champion Hurdler Hurricane Fly, bought by Harry Brown.

Trainer and consigner of Paricolor and Heure de Gloire, Noel Williams, said: “The May Sale came up at the right time for us and it’s a very convenient way of selling, as opposed to travelling the horses to a sales complex.

“Using ThoroughBid to sell the horses fit in well with the wishes of the owner, who wanted securing a decent price and a quick sale for them, without needing to wait until the next physical sale. Not having to travel them for this made life easier all round.

Smoothly

“This is the first opportunity I have had to use ThoroughBid. It’s easy to use and the sale went very smoothly for us.”

Also listed in the May Sale catalogue were several point-to-pointers which qualified for ThoroughBid’s £5,000 Point2Rules Bonus. Among these were Delilah Bucks and Doctor Doyen who could now be in with a chance of winning the bonus for their new connections.

CEO of ThoroughBid, James Richardson, said: “The May Sale featured a good variety of stock, offering promising pointers with a good chance of winning our Point2Rules Bonus, proven winners under rules from prominent consigners and youngstock with great pages.

“A clearance rate of 67% was most pleasing and we were delighted to see the likes of Jerry McGrath and David Pipe join the bidding to secure some quality horses.

“We wish the new connections of all horses sold today the very best of luck following the May Sale.”
