SEVERAL group and listed winners seem sure to add special interest to an enormous Autumn Sale to be held by Tattersalls at Newmarket the week after next, from Monday to Thursday, October 24th to 27th. Altogether, nearly 100 blacktype performers are among the 1,515 horses in training which have been entered, although that total is 162 fewer than last year.

The Autumn Sale has produced some remarkable bargains, with future 2000 Guineas hero Makfi sold here seven years ago for only 26,000gns, while subsequent Group 1 winning sprinters G Force, Regal Parade, Prohibit and Les Arcs sold for 25,000gns, 16,000gns, 85,000gns and 32,000gns respectively. Other notable Autumn purchases were outstanding hurdlers Punjabi, Istabraq and Inglis Drever, and also several American graded winners.
