JER’S Girl looked like a horse with plenty of potential when taking the Listed Betfred Remembers Howard Kendall Fillies’ Juvenile Hurdle over two miles, one furlong at Aintree last Saturday, and although she is the only blacktype horse in the first few generations of her pedigree, hers is a branch of one that includes a Royal Ascot winner and another who was twice placed at the Cheltenham Festival.

Her talent could be entirely by chance, or a result of something that clicked with the combination of her sire and broodmare sire, or down to some other factor at which we can only guess, but she is now an unbeaten blacktype winner with potential, both as a racehorse and, eventually, at stud.
