TIPPERARY’s Denis Lynch and GC Chopin’s Bushi emerged victorious in the 1.55m speed class at Riesenbeck CSI3* in Germany last Sunday. Drawn 11th to go in a start list of 53 combinations, Lynch wasted not time and a series of turns saw him set the winning clear in 64.02 seconds and as a result took home the winner’s prize of almost €20,000.

Owned by Onyx Consulting Ltd, the 14-year-old KWPN gelding is by Contendro II and out of Ushi.

The competition was strong, with a total of 14 combinations maintaining clean sheets and the top six coming home within 67 seconds. Lynch had nearly a second and a half to spare over German runner-up Maurice Tebbel with Don Diarado, while Christian Kukuk (GER) finished third with Quintino.

Co Clare’s Eoin McMahon was also in the prizes and finished eighth with Chacon 2, when he delivered a clear in 68.95.

Last Friday, McMahon put in an impressive performance to claim victory in the 1.30m CSIYH1* Youngster Tour Final. Riding Kir Royal 104, he lodged the winning clear in 26.93. The combination, was almost a second quicker than his closest rival, Chloe Reid and Charlotta 11 in 27.76. Further down the line and filling seventh place was Denis Lynch with Looping Luna, clear in 28.96.
