MONDAY at Mullingar saw a host of national finals take place. Taking centre stage early in the morning was the 1.10m Derravarra Championship. Sponsored by Francis Derwin, the final was worth €3,000. Taking this win and almost €1,000 in prize money was Amateur rider Lorraine Younge (AA) when she was the fastest of 11 double clears aboard her prolific winner Belfieldflight in a time of 33.59 seconds. Younge also claimed fifth place with Little Miss Russel (36.77).
She was chased home by Children on Horses rider Charlotte Butler aboard the Olwyn Alexander-owned Kingston King in a time of 34.28. Slotting into third place was Jessica Lee and Harry Beau Bay in a time of 35.89.
