WHILE the Nations Cup competition in Aachen did not go Ireland’s way, there was plenty to be proud of, with Irish team members Denis Lynch, Shane Sweetnam, Tom Wachman and Cian O’Connor all securing individual podium placings at the prestigious German show.

The five-star fixture at Aachen kicked off last Tuesday, July 1st and saw Lynch finish on the podium in the opening competition riding Brooklyn Heights into third place. Of the 54 starters, there were 34 clear rounds, with Lynch among the fastest, only being beaten by two Brazilians, Stephan de Freitas Barcha on Chevaux Hex Lup Imperio Egipcio taking the win, followed by Pedro Veniss on CS Hortencia in second place.
