NAVAN’s two-day meeting provided a rich source of promising performances as well as an opportunity for Felix Yonger to confirm his standing in the second tier of two-mile chasers by landing the Grade 2 Kerry Group Hilly Way Chase (relocated from weather-ravaged Cork).

The Hilly Way was not truly-run, being about 3.5s slower to three out than the Grade 3 mares’ race which followed it, but Felix Yonger made up all that deficit, and more besides, thereafter. In that context, Felix Yonger’s 146 timefigure is respectable enough compared to Queens Wild’s 126.
