THE two most important races in Europe in the week under review both went the way of Irish-trained runners, from the yards of Ger Lyons and Ken Condon in a change from the usual Aidan O’Brien-focused script.

O’Brien put up a trio against the former’s Siskin in the Group 1 Keeneland Phoenix Stakes but had to settle for second, third and fourth in a field of five as Siskin preserved his unbeaten record, readily rather than impressively.
