CORK's Shane Sweetnam and the Irish-bred James Kann Cruz finished third in CSI5* $425,000 Lugano Diamonds Grand Prix 1.60m at Wellington, Florida overnight.

The Corkman, on board James Kann Cruz (ISH), put in a spectacular round of jumping in round one to join six other combinations, including Ireland’s Daniel Coyle, in the 1.60m jump-off.

On what proved a tough course, the Corkman had a clear round and a time score of 42.35 seconds.

Derry’s Daniel Coyle had also finished the jump-off with a clear round.

The pair seemed tough to beat but America’s Laura Kraut and Baloutinue was just 2.09 seconds faster than Sweetnam and took victory in a time of 40.26 seconds.

America’s McLain Ward split the pair on the podium after they finished the jump-off with a clear round and the time of 40.56 seconds.

Reynolds fifth in Doha

In Dressage news, Kildare’s Judy Reynolds and For Fun 51 (BAVAR) came fifth in the Doha, Al Shaqab (QTR) CDI5* Grand Prix Special.

Reynolds finished with a score of 65.319% which is just 0.936% below fourth place which went to Canada's Naima Moreira Laliberte who finished with a score of 66.255%.

First place went to Belgium’s Charlotte Defalque who scored 69.638% followed by second place’s Lithuania’s Justina Vanagaite and then Spain’s Juan Matute Guimon.
