WATERFORD’S Gemma Phelan put her first points on the Gain Alltech National Grand Prix leader board at Wexford Equestrian on Saturday. Riding Coolsheal Lance, she was one of only two double clears in the three way-jump off in the Kehoe Farms-sponsored class, which had a prize fund of €4,000.

Speaking after the class, Phelan said she was delighted for her owner Thomas Hyland who was over the moon with the result. “I have won Premier Grands Prix but this is my first National Grand Prix win. I am delighted to be able to do it for a good owner of mine, Thomas Hyland. He is the owner/breeder and he is absolutely over the mine.
