BALLYPATRICK Stables were once again at the fore in the Four-year-old final in Cavan last Sunday, when two from its string placed first and second.

LS Lucky Leap, a gelding by Echonix out of Lou Leap by Orestus, owned by Patrick McEvoy and bred by Cormac McElroy, was ridden to the win by Niamh McEvoy, when judges Alo McEntee, Daren Hopkins and visiting American, Candice King awarded the top score of 192.7 to the pair.

Austin Broderick’s Penelope 31, a mare by Mylord Carthago, out of Diacapella Squalls Estate Z by Diamant de Semilly, bred by Sean and Ronan Judge and ridden by Leah Stack, took the runner-up spot with a score of 186.

GHS Chuck Bass (Van Gogh x Taloubet VD), owned by LMG Enterprises, bred by GHS and ridden by Vincent Byrne, finished in third place with a score of 179.7.

Rian Grimes guided Cathal McMunn and Christina Gustafsson O’Brien’s OBG Azarro (Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve x Cristo) into fourth with 179.3 points, while Meadhbh Mealiff riding the Dutch-bred mare Odiorette W (Diarado x Zirocco Blue) took fourth on 175 for owner Kevin Mealiff.

Paul Devlin’s Ceatharlia KBS Dado (O.B.O.S Quality x Lucy Luz), bred by Flan Coughlan and ridden by Sarah Agnew, completed the line up in sixth place.

Six- and Seven-year-old

Dominante Z, a six-year-old mare by Dominator Z out of Aube Mystique de Catope by Darco, owned and bred by Williams Sport Horses Ltd and ridden by their son Coen, won the Six- and Seven-year-old final in Cavan.

Sponsored by NK Coatings, the 1.30m class had a start list of 39, which was reduced to 11 for the second round against the clock.

Remarkably, Coen and Dominante Z produced the fastest time of 31.52 as first to go in the decider, a lead they would hold onto throughout the class.

Niamh McEvoy came closest aboard Greg Broderick’s mare Next Question (VDL Orestus x Damiro), bred by Tracey and Margaret Gallagher. They stopped the clock at 32.26 for second place.

Coen’s brother Rhys, riding Richard Kirby’s Ballypatrick-bred BP Rocket Man (Stakkato Gold x Quidam Junior), posted a time of 32.45 for third place.

McEvoy and her second mount, Ballypatrick’s mare Be Kalinka (Cornet Obolensky x Contact Me), which was bred by Breen Equestrian Ltd, slotted into fourth in 32.53, while Coen and his second mount, the Belgian-bred and Williams family-owned, Ulex JT Z (Untouchable 27 x Plot Blue) placed fifth.

Molly Hughes Bravo aboard the Bravo Hughes-owned and bred seven-year-old HHS Savanna (Dignified Van’T Zorgvliet x Don Juan De La Bouverie) finished in sixth.

1.30m

The GAIN Nutrition 1.30m final was won by Suzanne Posnett riding her own Belgian-bred gelding Maxim Van Overis Z. The duo posted a time of 37.31 in the two-round class to prove best of the 26 starters.

The runner-up spot went to the Tom McGuirk-owned and bred eight-year-old mare Kannan Diamante (Kannan x VDL Arkansas) in 40.60.

Gerald and Joanna Penfold’s eight-year-old Dutch-bred Kyra was guided into third place by their daughter Harriett in 40.88, while Tori Dunne and her own seven-year-old mare Z Seven Amour (Z Seven Ascot x Caretino) took fourth as the fastest four-faulters.

Paul Devlin and Sarah Agnew’s six-year-old Carrick View Cheap Thrills (Emerald van’t Ruytershof x Beach Ball) were fifth, while sixth went to Madeline Roberts Allen aboard her own Dutch-bred stallion Daroento Vdl.
