CLAIMING victory in the 1.30m class on Sunday of Cavan’s Three-day Horse Championships was Louis Mellier, who was riding Tom Jones’ eight-year-old Carrick Quidams Ambassador, when they posted a double clear in 39.13. A split-second divided the next placing as junior Connaught rider, Mark Neilan and LBC Russi B, galloped home with nothing to add in 39.20. Resident rider Victoria Clarke left nothing to spare with the eight-year-old Cherry Candy Girl, delivering a clear in 40.67 for third place. John Hagen opted for the safer routes with CHS Fortitude, and it paid off, as they came home clear in 44.10 for fourth place. Slotting into fifth place was Robert Harrison and CES Wicked Contender, with a clear in 44.63. Junior Connaught rider Oisin Anderson and Pearl completed the top six when they kept all the jumps intact in a time of 46.46.
