LOCAL riders dominated the 1.35m at Ballivor last Sunday. Taking the win was Nicholas Butler from Kells, fastest of just three double clears with Tom Jones’s Carrick Kilderrys Diamond in a time of 41.41 secs. Bred by James Mangan, the 11-year-old stallion is by Carrick Diamond Lad out of the Cruising-sired Kilderry Cruise.

Local rider Gerard Clarke took the runner-up spot when just fractions behind in 41.67 aboard Lupins Lux Z. Slotting into third place was Orla Cassidy and Bridgemans Olympic Star, clear in 43.25.

Andrew Hodgins was fastest of the four-faulters aboard his own Sandra in 43.27, while in fifth was Edward Doyle and Carillon, who had one on the floor in 46.83. Taking sixth place was Sean Monaghan and Pilniria Z, fastest of the four-faulters in the first round in 88.12.

McDermott scores hat-trick

It was a very good weekend for Aileen McDermott as she went on to take the win in the 1.20m. Riding the reliable Amber Balou, she delivered a double clear in 31.63. Deirdre Doyle opted for the longer lines with BLM Authentic Diamond and it paid off as she came home clear in 33.77 for second place.

Nicholas Butler also featured in this line-up, taking third with Pacco Lion, clear in 34.67. Slotting into fourth place was Timmy Keogh and Jaguar Blue, clear in 36.83, ahead of Hallie Crowe and Riverstown Flamenco Cruise, clear in 37.07. Paul Murphy made no mistake with Rupacino and crossed the line in 39.66 for sixth place.

Aileen McDermott completed the hat-trick when she took the win in the 1.10m section. Riding Amber Balou, she kept all the poles in place in 25.58.

Fellow amateur rider Marie Hartley (AA) took the runner-up place, only a split second behind with Scarthill Vendi in 25.99. It was also a good day for Hartley as she also took third place with Nikita Van Het Heidenhof, when clear in 27.47.

Andrew Hodgins took another place in the line-up when he partnered Bobello to a clear in 28.06 for fourth place, ahead of amateur rider Brian Cassidy and Looks Easy, clear in 28.42. Sixth place belonged to Sunnible Stassin and RNH Factor One, clear in 30.64.
