HOPES will be high for the Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale following what has already been a stand-out year so far, with three Group 1 winners at Royal Ascot.
That said, the company have decided to reduce the 2025 catalogue by 9% to 505 yearlings, while Part 2 has undergone an even greater edit, with 165 yearlings catalogued, compared to 275 at a challenging renewal last year.
Docklands, Cercene and Time For Sandals completed a Royal treble for the sale and the sires of the latter two – Australia and Sands Of Mali – are represented in this year’s catalogue. Other proven sires with progeny catalogued include Acclamation, Cotai Glory, Dark Angel, Gleneagles, Havana Grey, Invincible Spirit, Kodiac, Mehmas, New Bay, Night Of Thunder, No Nay Never, Sea The Stars, Showcasing, Sioux Nation, Starman and Starspangledbanner.
Joining them are the first yearlings by the likes of Bayside Boy, Blackbeard, Dubawi Legend, Minzaal, Naval Crown, Perfect Power, Persian Force, Space Traveller and State Of Rest.
Matron Stakes heroine Champers Elysees is an earlier graduate of the sale and her full-brother will be offered by Jamie Railton next month. The catalogue also features siblings of top two-year-old Arizona, Coventry Stakes victor Rajasinghe, dual Group 2 scorer Coltrane, multiple group winner Who’s Steph and Group 1 runner-up American Sonja.
Upon publishing the catalogue, Tattersalls Ireland CEO Simon Kerins said: “I have no doubt that the Group 1 success posted by Cercene, Docklands and Time For Sandals will have caught the attention of purchasers worldwide, and marked the September Yearling Sale down up as a must attend sale this year.
“These results are a testament to our vendors who are aligned with our ambitions for this sale, and it’s their support that ensures the quality improves and demand grows year on year.”
All horses catalogued at the September Yearling Sale are eligible for the €250,000 Tattersalls Ireland Super Auction Sales Stakes that is held at The Curragh on Irish Champions Festival weekend in September 2026. The vendor of the winning horse in the Super Auction Sales Stakes will receive an Overlander R240 horsebox for one year.
