Thursday's fifth Goffs Yorton Sale in Wales saw a new record top price of £165,000 and the turnover of £1.13 million finish within 1% of last year’s record figure.

The record price was paid by Ian Ferguson for a two-year-old No Risk At All gelding. The half-brother to the Grade 3 winners Al Dancer and Tzar’s Dancer saw a prolonged bidding dual between Ferguson and trainer Ben Pauling before Ferguson prevailed on behalf of owner Dai Walters. The price beat the previous record of £105,000, also set by a No Risk At All two-year-old bought by Walters, at the inaugural sale in 2019.

No Risk At All was also the sire of the second highest-priced lot, a two-year-old half-sister to the listed winner Night Endeavour and out of the listed winner Night Serenade, which sold to Jimmy and Susie Wenman for £58,000.

Other lots to feature were a Born To Sea two-year-old gelding who was purchased by BLM Bloodstock for £55,000 and filly by Kapgarde who topped the yearling session of the sale when knocked down to Finbar Kent Bloodstock for £44,000.

Some 36 of the 45 lots offered were sold for an average price of £31,556 and a median price of £28,000.
