Lot 21: 2yo c by Inns Of Court ex Question

I bought him at the Somerville Sale from Tally-Ho Stud. He is a nice, good physical and a half-brother to some good, quick horses. He goes well, a good, tough, honest horse.

He is a half-brother to Clem Fandango who was third in the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot and won the Listed Harry Rosebery Stakes. The sire has had a good start and hopefully he will just get better.

Lot 185: 2yo f by Australia ex Jolie Etoile

She is a nice filly that will be for the back-end of the year, or early next year. She is a very good-moving, well-balanced filly and, again, has a nice pedigree, being a half-sister to Preferential who won two listed races in France and America.

Lot 195: 2yo c by Lope de Vega ex Lady Of Dubai

A lovely horse. The sire speaks for himself, and the dam was third in the Oaks. The half-sister Dubai Crystal won a novice by almost five lengths and looks to have plenty of potential.

Lot 250: 2yo f by Zoustar ex Special Purpose

A lovely filly. She just missed the Guineas Sale; she had a stone bruise.

She is the second foal out of a blacktype Scat Daddy mare who was third in the Group 3 Dick Poole Stakes. She is a very good-looking filly that we like a lot.

Q: Who are the other members of the team helping you at this sale?

The main people are Jess (wife) and Paula (sister). They do an awful lot and are the backbone of the operation.

William O’Hanlon is with us all winter for the last few years – he is a great addition. Morgan Dunne helps us out at the sales. He is great to have at the sales, he knows all the people and is a great horseman.

Q: What was the best result you have had from this sale in the past?

We have had plenty of winners go through Goresbridge but the standout one must be Landshark, who was second in the Round Tower Stakes.

He topped the sale. He was a gorgeous horse, very straightforward with lots of ability and that was recognised by buyers at the sale.

Why Goresbridge?

Q: We love the sale. We have been very lucky there over the years and got some great results. There is always great trade and atmosphere. Tattersalls Ireland and ITM do a great job getting the punters in the door.

It is a sale that is improving every year, from the first year it started right through, it keeps improving.

It’s got to the stage that you can send a couple of good horses and if they breeze well and look well you will get well paid for them.

Lot 38: 2yo c by Golden Horn ex Soony

Golden Horn is doing really well at stud, I think he is an exciting stallion. This is a very nice horse out of a Siyouni mare. He is more of a long-term horse and, if he gets form, there will be profitable second-hand value. I am very happy with him and I will definitely have another one by the sire. I bought him as a yearling in France and this horse is qualified for French premiums.

Lot 203: 2yo c by Cloth Of Stars ex Legende d’Or

He is a lovely horse, lovely bone under him and a lovely outlook to him. Again, I bought him in France, and he is out of a Dansili mare. He is bred to stay but he goes well. I would think if anyone raced him, and he got form, he has good second-hand value. He would have a great action that would suit Australia at the end of his three-year-old career. He is also qualified for French premiums.

Lot 229: 2yo f by City Light ex Moonlight Rose

City Light is by Siyouni and this filly is from his first crop. She is a very nice, racy filly, with a lot of quality and she goes very well. I am very happy with her. I like Siyouni but his offspring are very expensive so we thought we would try a City Light. Her dam won four times herself and she has bred a four-time winner from two runners. She is qualified for French premiums.

Q: Who are the other members of the team helping you at this sale?

It depends on who is available but, local to me at home, Mark Quinn is going to help. He rides out for me part-time. We used Robson Nunes at the Guineas Sale, and he breezed the horses well, so we will hopefully be using him at Goresbridge.

Q: What was the best result you have had from this sale in the past?

The best horse I have sold at Goresbridge is Wind Your Neck In. He was a 94-rated two-year-old.

Lot 44: 2yo c by Showcasing ex Stylish Design

A very attractive colt, he is showing plenty of speed at home and he prepped very easy throughout the winter. We have expectations that he will go well, on his homework. He is a nice, big, good-looking horse with a good walk. We bought this horse as a yearling at the September Yearling Sale at Tattersalls Ireland. He was quite raw when we bought him, but he thrived through the winter and into the spring.

Lot 93: 2yo c by US Navy Flag ex Barnet

We bought him privately as a foal. As an individual, this horse is very nice. He is a May foal but, with Goresbridge being that bit later than other sales, it has really stood to him. He will be a lovely two-year-old for later in the year. He is a great mover, so light on his feet. The half-brother is with Archie Watson, Unilateralism, and is rated 85. He is due to run again soon so we would be hopeful of a pedigree update! Both horses are nice, big, strong colts.

Q: What was the best result you have had from this sale in the past?

Last year we had two horses in the sale. We bought the Sioux Nation as a foal for just €4,000 and he made €55,000. That was a real success for us, especially as it was our first time doing breezers. The Fascinating Rock was sold to the Czech Republic. He was placed as a two-year-old and he won last week - he was always going to be better at three-year-old.

Q: Who are the other members of the team helping you at this sale?

My husband Colin and I have a nice team and set-up at home. We have a good few horses for pre-training and then the few breezers and then we have a few foals to pinhook. It is mostly Colin and I who do the sales. Jake Coen will ride the horses on the day of the breeze.

Q: Why Goresbridge?

It is a lucky sale for us! We had a very good sale in 2022. Last year there were a lot of buyers there from all over the world, not just England and Ireland. It is great to see all those trainers and agents at the sale. The timing of the sale is good for us too, a little later, gives us a bit of extra time prepping the horses.

Lot 20: Queen Of Trade, 2yo f by Trade Storm ex Queenside

We bought her in France last year. She is a good, strong physical, great walker, great mind and hopefully she will do well on the day. Her dam won three races and was placed five times and is the dam of a winner. This filly is qualified for French premiums.

Lot 72: 2yo f by Twilight Son ex Xylophone

A very athletic filly, she is improving the whole time and doing very well. She is sharp, a real two-year-old type. Her half-brother was second in a maiden at two, so it looks to be a speedy family.

Lot 207: Storm Tracker, 2yo c by Storm Belt ex Little Tinka

He came from France last autumn and is qualified for French premiums. He is an athletic horse, good strong physical. His half-brother won three races at three. A nice horse.

Lot 221: Coricopat, 2yo c by Seabhac ex Maymona

He is gorgeous. A good, big, strong physical, ready to go on. He is a lovely horse with great temperament, great mover and does everything right at home. I don’t like saying too much before in case I jinx myself, but I am hopeful for him. He is a three-parts brother to Ilanga who won the Group 3 Prix Texanita and placed in a Group 3 and Listed. He is qualified for French premiums as well.

Q: Who are the other members of the team helping you at this sale?

Ambrose (O’Mullane) and I are at home the whole time. Stephen Combes comes in the afternoons, when he is finished riding out for Paddy Twomey, to help us out. At the sales we have Rob Hooper, who is coming over from Newmarket to work the sale, and Treasa O’Sullivan, who works the sale with us also. They are both great horse people.

Gordon ‘Flash’ Power is our breeze-up man – we have to give him a mention! He is with us over 10 years and is part of the furniture. He helps us a lot through the year riding the horses away and gives us a very good steer on where we are at.

Q: What was the best result you have had from this sale in the past?

Claymore is the best horse we have sold. He was a Royal Ascot winner last year and second in the Craven. We sold a horse last year, Muhaarar Dream, to Caruso d’Amico from Italy and he won three as a two-year-old and has won again this year as three-year-old and won an ITM voucher. Havana Dream is another. She won the Norwegian 1000 Guineas. Emperor Supreme won in Happy Valley. We have sold plenty of winners from Goresbridge.

Q: Why Goresbridge?

We sold our first horse at Goresbridge in 2009 and we have been going ever since. Tattersalls Ireland do a great job since it moved to Fairyhouse. ITM work hard to get buyers there. There is always plenty of people on the ground.
