WEDNESDAY'S session of the Tattersalls December Mare Sale was predictably much quieter than Monday or Tuesday, with 78% of the 242 lots offered finding buyers.

The day's median price of 14,000gns was 7% back on the same day from last year, and the average price of 19,418gns was down 9%.

Godolphin provided the day's top lot in the shape of Mufeeda, a three-year-old No Nay Never half-sister to Maamora, winner of the Group 3 Atalanta Stakes and third in the Group 2 Balanchine Stakes.

Unraced herself, Mufeeda is also a half-sister to the dam of Hungry Heart (by Frankel), winner of the Group 1 Australian Oaks, the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes and a champion three-year-old filly in Australia.

Mufeeda was bought online for 160,000gns by 'Lucky Vega', thought to be an international owner-breeder with horses in Europe and Australia.

It is a four-generation Darley Stud pedigree and she is out of the Radley Stakes (L) winner Zoowaraa (Azamour).

Marie O'Sullivan, bloodstock sales manager for Godolphin, said: "She is a long-term pedigree of Sheikh Ahmed's. She really was the pick of our draft and is lovely filly, it is unfortunate that she has not made it to the track.

"Her dam Zoowraa is in-foal to Dubawi, her foal is by Too Darn Hot and she has a Night Of Thunder yearling, who is in training with William Haggas."

The sale concludes on Thursday.
