Lot 231 (c) Saxon Warrior – Gravity Queen

Vendor: Kildallan Farm

Purchaser: Ballyhimikin Stud

Price: €88,000

A strong autumn for Saxon Warrior’s first crop of runners reached an impressive climax in America earlier this month when Victoria Road struck gold in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf. Understandably the progeny of the Deep Impact horse were in some demand all week and this foal headed the opening session when he was snapped up by James Hanly’s Ballyhimikin Stud. The colt comes from a good Juddmonte family that goes back to the Grand Prix de Paris winner Zambezi Sun.

Lot 330 (c) Invincible Army-Red Saree

Vendor: Lisieux Stud

Purchaser: Ballyphillip Stud

Price: €78,000

Among the sires who will be represented by their first runners in 2023 is the Yeomanstown Stud resident Invincible Army whose first yearlings made a very positive impression in the autumn. The Invincible Spirit horse’s foals found plenty of favour this week as well and one of his standout offerings was this colt who will return for resale having being picked up by Paul and Marie McCartan’s Ballyphillip Stud. He is out of a winning juvenile whose first runner is Adrian Murray’s smart juvenile Kodi Red who won twice during the summer and was rated 95 when last seen in action.

Lot 524 (c) Kodi Bear – Hawaajib

Vendor: Sandra Russell Bloodstock

Purchaser: Glenvale Stud

Price: €98,000

Ciaran Conroy’s Glenvale Stud picked up a number of lots over the course of the week to return for sale next year and among them was this colt who is the highest priced foal by his sire to have passed through the ring at Goffs. The likes of Go Bears Go, Ever Given and Measure Of Magic have represented the stallion with distinction over the last couple of seasons and this foal looks an interesting prospect as a half-brother to a pair of winners from the family of Footstepsinthesand.

Lot 536 (c) Night Of Thunder – Jam And Man

Vendor: The Castlebridge Consignment

Purchaser: Goodwill Bloodstock

Price: €175,000

As far as pinhookers are concerned there is an increasingly limited opportunity to secure the progeny of Night Of Thunder on the open market. There are only three on offer at Tattersalls and the Dubawi horse was represented by the same number this week with his trio of offerings returning an average of €211,667. A return to the sales ring as a yearling will be the plan for this colt who is the first produce of a winning Invincible Spirit half-sister to the Prix de Diane heroine Channel.

Lot 646 (c) Cotai Glory – Star Of Kings

Vendor: Ballinalard Stud

Purchaser: Tally-Ho Stud

Price: €100,000

Since his first runners hit the track last year Cotai Glory has made a very positive impression with the obvious highlight of his stud career to date coming in Paris last month when his daughter, The Platinum Queen, became the first juvenile in 44 years to win the Prix de l’Abbaye.

The exploits of the Richard Fahey inmate have more than underlined her sire’s prowess and among his popular foals this week was this colt who will return for resale next autumn after being picked up by Tally-Ho. He made notable appeal on pedigree as a brother to last year’s Tattersalls Ireland Super Auction Sale Stakes winner King X J.
