THE fifth staging of the Foran Equine Irish EBF Auction Race Final at Naas last Sunday produced just the sort of result that the series was framed for.

The victorious Lustown Baba was owned by a syndicate which came into being after the filly’s breeders Laurence and Carla Sheedy were unable to sell the daughter of Alhebayeb and a group of friends got involved and raced her. The chance to race for a six-figure pot for an inexpensive filly such as this is what this series is all about and affords smaller owners the chance to compete for prize fund that one would generally associate with pattern races.
