Navan May 14th

Lasmuigh

(J.P. Murtagh)

This colt was down the field behind Matilda Picotte on his debut at the start of the month but he did much better to finish fifth to Harry Time in a Navan maiden last Saturday.

He can progress further from here and showed enough to suggest that he will be making his mark this season.

Saraqael

(R.P. Cody)

Last weekend’s card at Navan concluded with an impressive effort from Vega Magnifico in the 10-furlong maiden. Among those in behind to show promise was this Dark Angel gelding who looked as though he would be all the better for this initial experience before being beaten just over six lengths into sixth.

He could progress sufficiently to win a maiden this summer.

Naas May 15th

Mehmar

(M.D. O’Callaghan)

He made a more than satisfactory debut in a valuable conditions race on Sunday when running the promising The Antarctic to three-quarters of a length.

He was the only member of the four-runner field who lacked the advantage of a previous run so he should progress nicely off this outing and he looks a colt of substantial promise for the coming months.

Crystal Black

(D.K. Weld)

A largely unexposed type who was third in a 10-furlong handicap on Irish Champions Weekend last September, this four-year-old caught the eye with a sixth place finish behind Hale Bopp.

He looked sure to get involved inside the last quarter of a mile before fading steadily but he shaped with promise and he will be of considerable interest wherever he goes next.

Onameridance

(J.P. O’Brien)

The three-year-old handicap won by Silken Ladder on Tuesday evening looked a decent contest for the grade and should produce its share of winners.

Among those who appeal is this daughter of Fastnet Rock who ran a creditable race off joint top-weight to be beaten three lengths into fifth. She appeals as a likely winner when she moves up in trip.
