CALLIAGHSTOWN’s Sandra Phipps, who posted the only sub-30-penalty score in the dressage phase, comfortably landed the young horse class on Oyster Pearl (29.8) at the Equipeople/AIRC national eventing championships in Killossery Lodge Stud last Sunday.

Phipps herself bred the five-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding by Tullabeg Fusion out of MBF Pearl (by Crown’s Ace Pearl), on whom she was a member of Calliaghstown’s winning team on Sunday. Her closest rival in the nine-runner young horse class was Earls Well’s Kate O’Driscoll, who also completed on her first phase score with her similarly-aged home-bred ISH mare Ardkilly New Venture (34).
