SHANE O’Dwyer has been appointed interim CEO of the Racing Academy and Centre of Education (RACE) in Kildare. Former CEO of the Irish Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association, his role is to deliver the development of a ‘People Campus’, as per Horse Racing Ireland’s Strategic Plan 2024-2028.
Best known for its trainee jockey course, RACE closed its residential facilities in 2023 though it continues to provide education and training courses for the racing industry.
Horse Racing Ireland [HRI] has effectively managed the facility for the past two years. In May 2024 HRI set itself a target of 2028 to have a new ‘people training campus’ operational.
