JIM Bolger has placed Redmondstown Stud on the market with a guide price of less than €1 million. It will be auctioned on Friday, October 17th at 12.30pm by Keane Auctioneers.

The 84-acre farm in Oylegate, Enniscorthy, Co Wexford, is where Bolger bred and reared an endless list of top-class racehorses. He and his wife Jackie acquired it in 1990 and from here they produced seven classic winners and 18 individual Group 1 winners. The farm also has a history of producing precocious two-year-olds, including three Dewhurst winners.

Classic winners Dawn Approach, Trading Leather, Poetic Flare, Soldier Of Fortune, Macswiney and Pleascach are just some of the Redmondstown graduates to spring to mind, along with Teofilo, Sholokhov and Twilight Payment.

In recent years both Dawn Approach and New Approach have stood as stallions at Redmondstown.

Keane Auctioneers describe the property as a “very impressive equestrian establishment” with “84 acres of land in top class condition with a good multi-purpose soil type (wonderful grassland) suitable for any type of farming and a bungalow residence in need of refurbishment.”

Set in a west-facing position with a private driveway and views over the River Slaney, Redmondstown has 24 stables, an eight-horse walker, lunging arena, outbuildings, tack room, four-span hayshed, canteen with WC and service road through the farm.

The property is set on a quiet country road and is accessed by a gated entrance with an impressive avenue bordered by beech hedging. The bungalow includes entrance/hallway, living room, kitchen/diner, utility room, sitting room, two bedrooms and bathroom.

The guide price is €975,000.
