NINA Carberry, former champion jockey and sitting Midlands North-West MEP, will return to the saddle at the Curragh on Saturday, August 29th, when she takes part in the Pat Smullen Charity Race in aid of Cancer Trials Ireland.

The race honours the life and legacy of Pat Smullen, the nine-time Irish champion flat jockey, who became an inspirational advocate and fundraiser for cancer research following his diagnosis with pancreatic cancer.

Carberry, a former Irish Grand National winner and seven-time Cheltenham Festival-winning jockey, said: “I’m delighted to be saddling up again and returning to the Curragh for such a great cause. Pat was a true champion, both on and off the track, and his courage inspired people far beyond the racing world. I’m proud to play a small part in continuing his legacy and raising vital funds for cancer research and clinical trials.”
