Popular hurdler passes away
THOUSAND Stars, the Grade 1-winning hurdler, has died, aged 21. Winner of 13 races and €1.4 million in prize money, the grey gelding was retired in 2016 and spent the last nine years with Katie Walsh, who won three races on him, including the County Hurdle at Cheltenham.
In retirement Thousand Stars competed in the Racehorse to Riding Horse Class at the Dubin Horse Show and he appeared on RTÉ Racing for many years as Walsh’s mount when she was interviewing winning jockeys.
