SIXTH, less than two lengths from the winner in the New Zealand Derby in March, Tavago brought his ‘A game’ for the AUS$2 million BMW Australian Derby on Saturday to dominate his 12 rivals, winning by three and a half lengths.
The gelded son of Tavistock, himself a sprinting son of Montjeu, was unwanted as a $30 chance as another Tavistock, the Victoria Derby winner Tarzino, was sent out ‘in the red’ at $1.65.
