THE worlds of racing and bloodstock were united on Saturday in celebration of the marriage of David O’Callaghan and Rolline Kavanagh in St Moling’s Chapel, situated in the grounds of the bride’s family home, Borris House, in the town of Borris, Co Carlow. The ancestral home of the McMorrough Kavanaghs, High Kings of Leinster, Borris House is set with a backdrop of Mount Leinster and the Blackstairs Mountain and is on the banks of the River Barrow.
Rolline was given away by her father Andrew who, together with his wife Tina and the family extended a warm welcome to some 200 guests. The renowned international pianist Finghin Collins played the organ and the Very Reverend Tom Gordon officiated at the ceremony. The Irish Field’s racing and sales correspondent Ryan McElligott was best man and he, along with many of the wedding party, were also keeping one eye on racing at the Curragh where the Dark Angel sired Sovereign Debt was the winner of the listed race over a mile.
