ENTRIES for the €270,000 Tote Galway Plate close next Wednesday and the weights will be calculated on Monday week, July 21st.

This will be the 15th consecutive year that the Tote sponsors the feature race of the week at Galway, which takes place on Wednesday, July 30th.

The Tote’s partnership with Galway has grown beyond naming rights, extending to on-course operations, investment in local recruitment and engagement with trainers, jockeys, and punters alike.

Lynda Reilly, general manager at Tote, said: “The entries for this year’s Plate will be revealed next Thursday. We are proud that our involvement goes beyond sponsorship, it also means local recruitment, economic uplift and being part of a tradition that brings people together.”

Michael Moloney, CEO of Galway Racecourse, said: “Having Tote as our partner for 15 years means we’ve been able to grow the race while keeping true to its wonderful heritage. Their commitment to the local community is deeply valued.”

In last week’s edition we ran a competition to win one of 10 pairs of flexi-tickets to the Galway Races given to us by the racecourse.

The winners are Patrick Barron (Waterford), Michael Murphy (Tipperary), Colm Murphy (Dublin), Barry Dardis (Meath), Shane Walsh (Galway), Cian Wilmot (Limerick), Anton O’Shea (KIlkenny), Stephen Browne (Mayo), Mary Reynolds (Tipperary) and Irwin Mahon (Dublin).
