ANOTHER highlight of next Saturday’s raceday is the Curragh to Curragh charity cycle in memory of Olive Lynch, mother of racing analyst Gavin Lynch.
The event will bring cyclists and supporters on a unique racing route through Rhode in Co Offaly - Pat Smullen’s home village - and Kildangan Stud before returning to the Curragh to enjoy racing.
To cap it off, the cyclists are going to try and set a new world record for the most people wearing a yellow cycling jersey in a single venue. The current world record is 270 people so participants are asked to wear a yellow cycling jersey on the day if possible.
The cycle starts at 10am at the Curragh Racecourse and you have the option of doing 15km, 45km or the full 95km. (Those doing the shorter distance will leave at 11am). You can also join in along the way - see website for expected departure times.
The plan is for everyone involved to meet at Kildangan Stud in Monasterevin and do the final leg of the journey together, arriving back at the Curragh in good time to see some races including the Pat Smullen Charity Race which rounds off the card. Everyone who signs up gets two free Curragh tickets to give to friends who can cheer you home.
