WOULD you like to be part of a world record attempt?

On Saturday, August 29th, you will have a chance to be part of something special, if you sign up to take part in the Curragh To Curragh Cycle in aid of cancer research charities.

Organised by racing analyst Gavin Lynch, the annual cycle has already raised over €1.2 million in five years. This year, it starts at 10am at the Curragh Racecourse and you have the option of doing 15km, 45km or the full 95km. (Those doing the shorter distance will leave at 11am).

The plan is for everyone involved to meet at Kildangan Stud in Monasterevin and do the final leg of the journey together, arriving back at the Curragh in good time to see some races, including the Pat Smullen Charity Race which rounds off the card. Everyone who signs up gets two free Curragh tickets to give to friends, who can cheer you home.

This year’s longer route will, for the first time, take in Pat’s hometown of Rhode, Co Offaly, as well as Frances Crowley’s nearby Brickfield Stud.

To cap it off, the cyclists are going to try and set a new world record for the most people wearing a yellow cycling jersey in a single venue.

The current world record is 270 people, so participants are asked to wear a yellow cycling jersey on the day if possible.
