GRAND National-winning trainer Jimmy Mangan is the latest to dip his toe into the racing club experience.

“A few of my existing owners encouraged me to set one up, and they have already signed up for it,” reported Jimmy this week. For a one-off payment of €500 and a monthly fee of just €50, members will have full ownership of three racehorses.

“We will be looking for a mixture of horses with form and unbroken horses,” Jimmy explained. “The members will own the horses outright, it’s not a lease. So if a horse wins prize money or is sold, the proceeds go in to the fund. It’s their horse, not mine.”

Other perks for members include owners and trainers badges where available, access to a private WhatsApp group with regular updates, and visits to the yard in Conna, Co Cork, to see the horses working and schooling.
