THE turf flat season kicks off on Sunday at the Curragh and among those present will be multiple champion British jockeys Oisin Murphy and Ryan Moore.
Murphy has been booked for just one ride on the card - Whip Cracker for trainer Richard Hughes in the Nua Healthcare Irish Lincolnshire. The five-year-old ran well in a number of big British handicaps last season without winning.
He is the only British-trained runner in the €100,000 feature which has attracted 26 runners, including Curragh specialist Big Gossey who is set to carry top weight.
Other notable contenders include Norwalk Havoc, Eastwatch, Engines On, Crypto Force, Highbury See See, and last year’s winner Orandi, the mount of Ryan Moore. Moore also rides three horses in maiden races, all for Aidan O’Brien. They include the filly Signora, who started favourite for the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot last time out.
