David Pipe has run out of time to get Windbeneathmywings qualified for a novice hurdle at Cheltenham and will target the Punchestown Festival instead.

A dual bumper winner in Ireland for Pat Flynn, he created a huge stir when winning on his debut for Pipe by 14 lengths at Ascot.

He had Dan Skelton’s Moneygarrow back in second and he is now fancied for the Albert Bartlett having won his last two, but Pipe has struggled keeping his charge sound since.

He was forced to rule him out of last year’s bumper at Cheltenham and has been unable to get a run into him this season.

Writing on X, Pipe said: “Windbeneathmywings will not be running at the Cheltenham Festival. While in good form at home, we have run out of time to run him in a qualifying hurdle race before the Supreme this year. We will now keep him as a novice for next season and aim for the Champion Bumper at Punchestown.”
