No stranger to the winner’s enclosure, jump jockey Robert Power recorded a win of a different kind last week when taking the honours in the Horseware/TRM National Grand Prix league at Bannow and Rathangan Show. Riding the 13-year-old Doonaveeragh O One, Power kept his rivals at bay as he scorched home in 42.30 seconds to claim the lion’s share of the €4,000 in the Jim Bolger Racing-sponsored class.

Celebrating its 65th year, Bannow and Rathangan Show attracted its usual crowds for the feature event, which saw 28 starters going to post, 10 of which secured a place in the jump-off on the Damian Beevor-designed course.
