TITANTIC is well used to making waves with a glittering career behind him and resurfaced for a special reunion with his old friend Michael Blake.

The East Clare Harriers meeting in Bodyke, Co Clare was made extra special when they were joined by some equestrian royalty to see off the hunt.

On foot was well known top sport horse breeder Sean Jones. Sean is a founding member of the hunt club and show horse breeder extraordinaire of many well-known horses including the current HOYS supreme champion View Point, twice winner of the top title.

Also in attendance was Irish show jumping senior team chef d’equipe Michael Blake, also a founding member of the club. Michael had turned up to meet his old friend Titanic who was there to see and hear the hounds for his 31st birthday celebrations.

Titanic, who is only just 15hh, started his career as a trotter and when it was decided that he was not fast enough to be a trotter, he took to the hunting field. It was here that Michael first saw and sat on what was to become his “horse of a lifetime”.

Titanic holds the record for the most wins of any horse in the Green Glens Arena at Millstreet, he has bareback Puissance wins, the eventers’ challenge at Tattersalls when was 18 years of age and has taken multiple riders to compete successfully in the RDS.

Titanic was still taking part in riding club activities up until the end of 2020 where he did his last cross-country competition at the AIRC Championship in Flowerhill. He is still active in his retirement but this trip to meet the hounds gave the old boy an extra pep in his step.
